Many Mourn Death
Of Young Mother
MAJOR SCHOOL DISTRICT, Mich., Dec. 8. The death of Mrs. Fred
Peterson, 33, has caused deep sorrow in the community.
The mass of beautiful flowers, which surrounded her in her
casket, bespoke the sympathy of a host of friends.
Was Born Feb. 2, 1898
Clara Matilda Pleiness was born Feb. 2, 1898, in Mason County,
the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Pleiness. She grew to
young womanhood in Eden Township and in 1915 she was united in
marriage to Fred Peterson. The young couple established a home
in Ludington where they resided until two years ago. Two
children were born to them, Dorothy, who is 13, and Lois, nine.
Since the birth of the second daughter Mrs. Peterson had not
been strong. It was believed about eight years ago that she had
contracted tuberculosis and six months were spent in Howell
sanatorium at the end of which time no traces of the disease
were found. From time to time other medical aid was sought but
to no avail. Two years ago the husband sold his household goods
and took his wife and family to Arizona where it was hoped the
warm, dry climate would benefit her.
However little improvement was shown and it was deemed
advisable to return to their native state where she might be
among her relatives and friends. The ties of sisterly and
brotherly affection in the family were unusually close. This
spring they returned and have been living since with Mr. and
Mrs. George Peterson. The two little daughters have been living
with another sister in Ludington where they might have the
advantages of the city schools. They spent weekends at the
George Peterson home.
About four weeks ago Mrs. Peterson's condition grew worse and
she had been confined to her bed since. All that loving hands
and tender care could do would not make her well. At 1 o'clock
Friday morning she slipped quietly away. Mrs. Peterson was a
loyal wife and devoted mother and throughout her illness
maintained the same sweet temperament that was characteristic
of her daily life.
Was Deeply Appreciative
She was patient and appreciative of all that was done for her.
She took especial pleasure in a miniature garden and pool
arranged for her by Mrs. George Munson and Mrs. Robert Davidson
and flowers sent to her by friends.
Her mother, Mrs. William Paasch of Wiley, spent the last day at
her bedside.
Surviving other than the husband, children and mother are: Mrs.
George Peterson of Eden, Mrs. Avery Barton and Mrs. John Paasch
of Ludington and Mrs. Emery Laidlaw of Maywood, Ill., besides
numerous relatives and a host of friends.
Final Rites Held
For Mrs. Peterson
FERN, Mich., Dec. 9. Funeral services were held for Mrs. Fred
Peterson Monday afternoon with Rev. C. A. Lemon in charge.

Three songs were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Reinohr, Orwin
Saxton and Bernice MacKenzie with accompaniment by Miss
Rhodabelle MacKenzie.
Rev. Lemon spoke with sincerity and deep feeling of the faith,
love and patience of Mrs. Peterson.
Pallbearers were cousins of Mrs. Peterson. They were: Walter,
Armand and Irvin Stovesand and George, William and Ernest
Anderson.
