Mrs. Christina E. Paasch, 91, of Ludington Route 2 died at 12
midnight Sunday at her home. She had been ill for three months.
She was born Christina E. Stoevsand June 20, 1866, in Wisconsin
and was married in 1887 to Gust Pleiness, who died in 1911. In
1916 she married William Paasch, who preceded her in death in
1938.
Mrs. Paasch was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of
Ludington.
She leaves one son, Henry Pleiness of Ludington; four
daughters, Mrs. D. E. [Lena) Laidlaw of San Fernando, Calif.,
Mrs. George (Laura) Peterson of Pentwater Route I, Mrs. Avery
(Anna) Barton of Bass Lake and Mrs. John (Lydia) Paasch, with
whom she made her home in Pere Marquette Township; three
stepdaughters, Mrs. Rose Schrader and Mrs. Hattie Rider of
Ludington and Mrs. Nettie Laude of Scottville Route 1; 11
grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Dorrell chapel beginning this evening.
Funeral rites will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday from the chapel
with the Rev. Mr. Edward Hessler officiating. Burial will be in
Center Riverton Cemetery.

Mrs. Raymond Jones, the former Miss Hilda Paasch, was
complimented Monday evening at a delightful kitchen shower
given in her honor by Miss Dorothy Peterson and Miss Phyllis
Love at the latter's home, 408 North Rowe street.
Various "bride's" games were played throughout the evening,
prizes being won by Misses Bess McElroy, Lorraine Stahl, Lois
Peterson, Marjorie 8chmock and Margaret Jones and Mrs. Jones.
The others presented their awards to the guest of honor, who
also received a number of lovely gifts.
Delicious refreshments were served at the close of the evening
by Mrs. C. M. Love, Mrs. C. D. Holcomb and Miss Georgia
Thompson.
Other than the above mentioned, those present were: Mrs. Anna
Evans, Misses Lucille Johnson, Eleanor Laird, Janice GeBott,
Dorothy Petre, Ruth McGuire, Betty Baggott, Dorothy Dues and
Betty Love.
Misses Betty Jane Peterson, Dorothy Conklin, Mildred Castonia
and Elaine Anderson were unable to be present.

Hilda V. Jones, 80, of 906 N. Rath Ave., Ludington, died
Monday, July 20, at Memorial Medical Center. Hilda Verita
Paasch was born Jan. 12, 1918, in Ludington to John and Lydia
(Pleiness) Paasch. She grew up in Ludington, where she attended
school, graduating from Ludington High School. She was
married Nov. 18, 1938, in Angola, Ind., to Raymond R. Jones,
and he preceded her in death March 10, 1977. She was employed
in housekeeping at Oakview Medical Care Facility for many
years, retiring in 1983. She enjoyed her children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, traveling, knitting,
bowling and her pets. She was a member of Ludington Chapter No.
508, Women of the Moose, and Royal Neighbors of America.
Survivors include two sons, Garth D. (and Carol) Jones of
McCleary, Wash., and Craig A. Jones of Bealton, Va.; one
granddaughter, Christina (and Mark) Bickmore of Washington;
four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathon, Marcus and Eboney,
all of Washington; one brother, Willard (and Marjorie) Paasch
of Ludington; a very special aunt, Mrs. Emory (Lena) Laidlaw of
California; two nieces, Carol (and Ted) Parkinson of Ludington
and Diane (and Larry) Ryan of Ogdensburg, N.Y. Private
memorial services for Hilda Jones will be held at a later date.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to
consider the Memorial Medical Center Heart Fund; envelopes are
available at the Dorrell Funeral Home, which is in charge of
arrangements.
