Hadley, Lee {I3130} (b. )
Reference: 3130
Reference: 3131
Note: Tombstone says 1838
Note: Died of Septicaemia from Wound. Had Dec 21, 1919 until we
received his death record...
Note: He was a portly gentleman, full of good humor, pleasant, and he
smoked a pipe continuously.
He was a soldier in the Civil War. There is a story that one
day while he was on scouting duty he found himself surrounded
by Confederate soldiers. He was able to hide in a hollow log
until after they had left the vicinity and was thus able to
escape capture.
Note: Martin, on a 1875 plat map, had 80 acres on section 1 Odessa
township and 20 acres across the road west on section 2. The
schoolhouse was on the s.w. corner of his farm It was called
the Carr school. Later there was a Weslyan Methodist church
south across the corner called the Carr church. In 1888 the
tax roll shows Martin owning 40 ($600) on section 1 and Mary
owning 40($400). He is the owner of the 40 on sec 2($300) A
David Jackson owned nearby 40 acres north of Corner sec 1. It
was probably his son who married Agnes Carr. This would
indicate that Mary's land had no buildings. Later there was a
Carr school on Sec 2. It is now a home.
