Note: Martha graduated from Custer High School (now Mason County
Eastern) as valedictorian in 1949. In 1953 she graduated from
Central Michigan University with a degree in home economics,
and secondary teaching certificate. Her first one and a half
years of teaching were in Hart, Michigan. She has been
teaching continuously since 1955 at Mason County Eastern in
Custer. Martha married Walter Engelberg in 1954 and is the
mother of three sons: Walter H., May 5, 1955, Warren L., July
24, 1957, and Ronald C., October 6, 1969. Walter married
Virginia Chatfield of Fountain and is father to Brian J and
Bradley E. Warren married Shelby Morris of Niles and Ron is
serving in the United States Navy. Martha later married
William Leudesdorff.

Note: Ron attended Custer School (Mason County Eastern), graduating
with honors in 1961. His alma mater is Michigan State
Universtiry where he earned a degree in game biology. He
worked in Lansing with a construction crew and decided to earn
his living as a carpenter and mason, thus following the trade
of his father and many other Sanders men. Ron married Donna
Weinert of Scottville in 1968. Their family consists of
Christine L. March 5, 1971, Robert Lee December 30, 1973 and
Scott E. February 15, 1976.
