Reside in Ludington; Funeral Monday Afternoon.

CUSTER, Mich., July 23 - Edward, pioneer of Custer, passed away
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clyde Rummer, at 6 o'clock
Friday evening. Mr. Sanders had been in poor health since last
November when he went on a hunting trip in the upper
penninsula. Heart disease is given as the cause of death.

Edward Sanders was born April 10, 1864, in West Minister,
Maryland. He was the second of 10 children born to Mr. and
Mrs. HEnry Sanders. As a small boy he moved with his parents
to Indiana, near Fort Wayne. Forty-five years ago the family
moved to South Custer and purchased a farm. At that time the
forests were uncleared and it was necessary to cut the timber
before any farming could be carried on. A house was built and
the Sanders family became permanent residents.

In 1892 Edward Sanders married Emma Kreigh, a resident of South
Custer. After their marriage, they lived on a farm for several
years and in 1905 moved to Walkerville where Mr. Sanders
entered a shop and began blacksmithing. All of the boys of the
family were born during Mr. and Mrs. Sanders' residence in
Walkerville. The four girls were born in Custer.

The family moved back to Mason county and began farming. They
have remained in this vicinity since. Mr. Sanders moved to
Custer several years ago and resumed blacksmithing. His health
gave way and he sold his shop to Robert Nelson. Mr. Sanders
was well thought of in the community and will be greatly missed
not only by a devoted family, but by many friends and
neighbors. He had been a member of the IOOF lodge of Custer
for the last 20 years.

He is survived by his widow and eight children, Guy of
Muskegon, Orville, Robert and Joseph of Custer and Mrs. Vera
Nelson of Saginaw, Mrs. Clyde Rummer, Lillian and Arlie also of
Custer. Five grandchildren, Elmer and Robert Rummer, Victor
and Eileen Sanders, children of Guy Sanders, and Phyllis
Nelson; seven brothers and sisters, Rev. Joseph Sanders of
Manton, Mrs. Elnora Shue and Alvin Sanders of Ludington, Mrs.
Mary Deake of Superior, Wisc., Rev Charles Sanders of Carlton,
Daniel Sanders of Muskegon and MRs. Lydia Weller of Scottville,
also survive. Two brothers, Theodore and John are deceased.

Mrs. Mary Deake and son, Herman of Superior arrived Wednesday
morning. Rev. Charles Sanders of Carlton and Rev. Joseph
Sanders of Manton are expected for the funeral.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock
from the Congregational church of Custer.
